The “Happy Tail” was shared by the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region (HSPPR) on August 27 on their Facebook page.

“We are grateful to serve such a compassionate and pet-loving community, and this Happy Tail is about how our community helped reunite a dog that had been missing for over two years,” the animal shelter wrote.

The animal shelter and WFIE reveals that Bear got lost two years ago on April 2022 while he was with a pet sitter.

Brandy Ross, Bear’s owner, was devasted when the pooch was lost. She tells WFIE, “Like, that was the hardest part. Was going home after I had left him with the sitter and then coming home to not having my dog.”

She and her family reported him missing and posted in Facebook groups. And they spent weeks searching and posting him. But to no avail, Bear never turned up.

The “saddest part”, as HSPPR put it, is that Ross’ family had to leave Colorado Springs without the pooch and move to New York due to work in the military.

But for HSPPR, things “got exciting” when they started working with a group of volunteer pet lovers dedicated to helping lost dogs reunite with their families.

HSPPR reveals, “In July, Animal Law Enforcement (ALE) was alerted to a possible Bear sighting. Where at? The same location he went missing two years prior. So, an ALE officer reached out to these volunteers for help.”

The animal shelter reveals that the volunteers jumped on board to save Bear “without hesitation”.

“Feeding stations were set up, game trail cameras were placed, and they began monitoring Bear. They even found the original lost pet post from the owners (yes, the one from 2022) and let them know what was happening,” HSPPR explains.

Danielle Neiner, the volunteer who found Bear, further explains to WFIE how they caught Bear, “We then set up a time to put up what’s called a messy trap. So it’s a giant trap where they walk in, they hit a light, basically towards the back that triggers the door to close.”

And finally, on August 18, the volunteers successfully captured Bear. The animal shelter reveals that through a microchip check, they were able to confirm that the stray pooch they caught was indeed Bear.

“His owners were crying tears of happiness,” HSPPR wrote.

Neiner reveals that when they found the pooch, “He was pretty matted, very dirty, all that different stuff. He’s definitely underweight. but health-wise, he’s had no health problems.”

Ross couldn’t believe the news of her pooch being found. She said, “The whole night I’m like, ‘Oh my gosh, is this my dog?’ And then she read the numbers and she’s like, ‘It’s him.’ And I was like, ‘No way.’ And I was literally bawling my eyes out … Even now I’m in shock that this is him,”

“And to now be like, ‘He’s OK.’ It’s weird. It was, it was crazy. Like our emotions were everywhere,” Ross added.

Before making the cross-country trip, Bear got a much-needed groom and went to the vet for shots and a health certificate, all taken care by the volunteers who rescued him.

And then on September 01, Bear finally took the trip to reunite with his family, a trip that was paid by generous community members.

And before the long-awaited reunion, Ross reveals, “So we already bought all of his bed and his bowls, and my kids helped me buy him toys.”

Bear’s story is another reminder that hope is never lost. And that microchipping your pets will highly increase your chances of being reunited with them if they ever get lost.

For some garbage collectors in east Belfast, Friday is not only garbage collection day, but also Maddie day!

Maddie, the one-year-old Golden Retriever, is brightening up the lives of these garbage collectors every Friday morning by waiting for them to arrive and asking for pets.

“She loves seeing us, and waits for us every Friday morning to come around,” One of the garbage men, Mark Doran, tells BBC. “She scrapes the door until she can get out, she can hear the lorry coming up the street and stuff.”

Another garbage man, Nathan Wilson, who has been friends with Maddie for over a year since the pooch was a little pup, says “first time we seen her, [it was] just brilliant.”

Wilson also tells BBC, “I think she loves everyone. But I think she likes us a wee bit more.”

Maddie’s videos with her “blue bin friends” have gone viral on social media. On her Instagram page, Maddie has three videos of her greeting the garbage men with a combined total of almost 900,000 likes.

The videos all show Maddie at their garden either waiting for the garbage men to pet her and give her some love or her excitedly running around as she sees the garbage men approaching.

While Maddie makes other friends, like the postmen, or just the neighbors in general, the garbage men in the area seem to really have a special place in Maddie’s heart.

As a matter of fact, the pooch even got her own vest to match with them!

Katelin Fiddis, whose family own Maddie, tells BBC just how much the dog adores the garbage men. She said, “It’s not just her tail that wags, it’s her whole bum that goes – she just loves it.”

And while it’s true that Maddie makes these garbage men’s day brighter, Fiddis said it’s the same for Maddie.

“They’re very busy obviously doing their big rounds but the fact that they would dedicate 20-30 seconds to say ‘hello’, you can just tell that it makes Maddie’s day and she’s got a wee smiley face and a waggy tail.”

Now, Maddie has also started putting a smile on the faces of thousands of people all over the world thanks to her viral videos.

Fiddis said, “We’re getting comments from people saying ‘I’ve had a really, really hard week and I’ve just seen this video of Maddie and it’s completely changed my outlook and I feel so much better’.”

Clark G The Dog was among the Internet’s most famous dogs and an ultimate YouTube sensation. The Dutch Shepherd became famous in 2011 when a video of him, titled “Ultimate Dog Tease”, was uploaded by the channel Talking Animals.

The video has garnered over 200 million views and 1 million likes since it was uploaded on YouTube in 2011.

In the video, Clark’s owner teases him about all the meat inside the meat drawer that he and the cat ate, but never shared with Clark.

The channel voice dubbed Clark as he “talks” to his owner and expresses his frustration over not getting any maple bacon, steak, and chicken.

On June 05, Clark’s owner announced the viral dog’s passing on his Facebook page. His owner wrote, “It is with great sadness that I must tell you that Clark has gone over the Rainbow Bridge.”

“Our family is very heartbroken over his loss. Clark was such a large personality!!! Mom will miss him following her around the house and “yelling” at her whenever she comes home from anywhere. Dad will miss Clark always insisting on treats and snacks,” his owner shared.

Clark’s owner also took this opportunity to thank all of Clark’s supporters, calling them “the best fans in the world”.

They expressed their gratitude saying, “Clark got famous by accident but I know there was a reason behind it. We have saved many dogs together and I know we will continue to do so. You all have given us hope for humanity in the future. You are all pawmazing!”

They also shared the original video of Clark “talking” without the famous dubbed conversation.

While Clark crossed the rainbow bridge in June, it wasn’t until August when the Internet found out about the sad news.

On August 26, user @slater_paul uploaded Clark’s viral YouTube video on X (formerly Twitter) with the caption “RIP Clark: The Talking Dog Who Left Us Laughing”.

X Users were quick to mourn the loss of one of their favorite dogs on the Internet and started trending “RIP Clark”.

One X user wrote, “One of the best videos to ever grace the internet. RIP Clark. Thanks for making us laugh for so many years.”

“The Rainbow Bridge has lots of bacon on the other side,” another user wrote.

Clark G The Dog was 15 years old when he passed away. He started life as a homeless puppy. But at 8-weeks-old, his owners adopted him, changed his life, and the rest was history!

Niall Harbison, the CEO of Happy Doggo, shares the story of Britney Spears – a dog he rescued in Thailand two years ago.

“She had been used for fighting or possibly as a bait dog. She was dumped in the jungle with a padlock around her neck and with her 5 puppies,” Harbison wrote.

Harbison said that Britney was incredibly vicious. And prior to him rescuing the pooch, she has already bitten two volunteers badly.

He explained, “The only way I could get them food at first was with a big stick. Mum kept lunging at me. The puppies were in a horrific state with ticks.”

But Harbison understood that Britney’s aggressiveness was just the pooch’s way to protect her children. “She was just being protective of them,” he wrote.

Harbison revealed that it took him a total of 2 weeks to carry out the rescue of Britney and her puppies.

“Taking her to the vets and taking the padlock off was the best feeling ever,” he wrote.

Harbison also said that they got all Britney’s puppies treated for ticks and that she “completely changed” after.

Luckily, after all of Britney’s puppies became healthy again, Harbison was able to get them adopted. “All 5 turned out great and are living great lives and have been sterilized,” he reveals.

As for Britney, she has learned to trust Harbison and has been living with him since. However, Harbison said that she was a hard case because she couldn’t trust anyone and would attack both humans and other dogs that she didn’t trust.

“I nearly gave up so many times in frustration,” Harbison said. But knowing the life she lived, Harbison was extremely patient with Britney.

He said, “Britney came around slowly. She would try to play but she’d always let herself down. She has no off button from her previous life.”

Today, while Britney isn’t still as trusting, Harbison reveals that she has come so far. Britney now trusts bout six to seven people to walk her and interact with and has also made two dog friends!

Harbison said, “Not all rescues are perfect neat little happy endings”, giving us a small glimpse of how rescuing dogs is not all rainbows and unicorns.

“It’s been so hard but I’m very proud of Britney,” Harbison wrote. “She has seen horrible things in her life. I look at her now and see a dog that is as happy and content as possible.”

Social media users were touched to learn Britney and the second chance she got in life. One X user wrote, “Britney is doing great considering what she went through. Unfortunately, like people, some wounds never heal and we always carry them with us.”

“I’m impressed how far Britney has come! You offered hope. Your patience w/her is her success,” Another user wrote.

Another one said, “Brittany is a reminder that there are no bad dogs, only bad humans.”

Furthermore, Harbison reveals, “I’d love to get her a home but I still worry. Her life needs structure and safety for her.”

However, social media users were all in agreement when they said Britney is right where she belongs. One X user said, “I think she’s in her forever home, she’s clearly happy with you, her suite, and her toys.”

On a July 8 Instagram post, the animal shelter shares the heroic story of King that ended in a happily ever after.

The animal shelter reveals that the five-year-old dog came to them after escaping a life of neglect.

“When he arrived at HSP, he had a large, ulcerated mass on his face. The mass weighed a staggering 7 pounds, 10% of his body weight. It was impossible to tell how long it had been left untreated,” HSP reveals.

Despite the situation he was in, HSP said King’s spirit was “unbroken”. They explained that even though the pooch was in pain, “he had an inspiring upbeat attitude and only wanted to be loved.”

The animal shelter reveals that the pooch underwent a difficult yet successful surgery to remove the mass on his face. Thankfully, the tumor was benign.

During the following weeks, King continued his incredible recovery while also undergoing treatment for heartworm disease.

The animal shelter was doing its best to prepare King for his forever home.

“King has gone through a lot in lifetime and is still learning how to be a dog outside the world where he came from prior,” HSP wrote in a July 26 update. “Our staff is working endlessly to provide him love and care and set him up for a life in a forever home.”

And while it took a while, what’s for the lovable pooch finally found him – a loving forever home.

On an August 12 update, HSP shared the story of how King found his forever home.

HSP explained that during King’s heartworm treatment, he had to be on leash walks only. And HSP’s staff members would always take him out on long walks while keeping him entertained.

HSP reveals, “During one of these long walks, King was introduced to a construction worker who was working on our brand new Sjouwerman Adoption Center. It is here where this lovely gentlemen slowly fell in love with King.”

HSP said that the gentleman asked to foster King during a tropical storm. “He fell in love with him and fate stepped in and King was adopted by this amazing man,” HSP wrote.

While King has gotten his happily ever after, a lot of pets like him at the Humane Society of Pinellas are still waiting to get the care they deserve.

Waylon was first discovered by the Keller Creek Boarding and Grooming, a dog care services in Carnesville, Georgia, who were collecting their canine clients for doggy daycare.

Nobody knows how long Waylon has been on the streets before the dog care services found him.

In a Facebook post, the Keller Creek Boarding and Grooming posted about the encounter with Waylon. They wrote, “He was on our bus route this morning on Brown Rd in Carnesville trying to get on the bus. He followed us all the way down the road. We are worried he may get hit by another vehicle.”

The dog care services even posted a video of Waylon chasing the pup bus. But who would’ve thought that the video would become Waylon’s permanent ticket to the pup bus along with a forever home?

The video reportedly caught the attention of a Keller Creek Boarding and Grooming client named Saide Peace.

Keller Creek Boarding and Grooming revealed in a follow-up update, “One of our clients reached out to us this morning about him and decided he would make a perfect addition to their home.”

Peace already owned a Yellow Lab named Neli and she tells 11Alive, “I was doing my daily check of the Keller Creek Facebook because I send Neli (Waylon’s sister) there, and I saw where they posted about a lab that was chasing the bus, so I reached out.”

Apparently, Waylon wasn’t entirely a stray and was staying at a place where neighbors are able to feed him.

“I reached out to the girl and told her that I was interested in getting him so that night my boyfriend and I took Nelli to go meet him and I knew once we got there and saw him that I was taking him home with me,” Peace explained. 

Peace reveals that she took Waylon to the vet to get checked out and to get him vaccinated.

And a few weeks after getting adopted, Keller Creek Boarding and Grooming revealed that Waylon is finally starting his first official day in daycare, therefore earning him a permanent seat on the pup bus.

Peace reveals, “I knew I would be taking him to Keller Creek since his sister absolutely loves going there, and he made it very clear that he wanted to get on that bus that day he was chasing them.”

Rouwendaal’s Pomeranian dog, Rio, was named after the 2016 Rio Olympics, where the Dutch swimmer first won her Olympic Gold at the 10km marathon swim.

We Rate Dogs revealed that Rio passed away due to complications from a lung surgery.

On May 7, Rouwendaal wrote a heartfelt message for Rio on Instagram, saying, “Today I need to say goodbye to my little man who has given me the best feeling in the world, better than any medal I ever won, better than any swimming moment I have ever experienced.“

The Olympic champion said that her pet dog is the most important thing in her life. She even revealed that she bought a house for her and Rio to live in right after the 2024 Paris Olympics.

So, when the pooch passed away, Rouwendaal tells EuroSport that her “world stopped” and she “didn’t want to swim”.

But Rouwendaal’s father told her to continue swimming and to “do it for him [Rio]”. She added, “And I wanted to swim one more Olympics for him.”

Talking to We Rate Dogs, Rouwendaal said she got a paw tattoo in honor of Rio. “So I had a tattoo three days after the cremation and I said, ‘Let’s try it and I will swim for him with my whole heart’ — and I did it — I won for him.’”

After winning gold at 2024 Paris Olympics, Rouwendaal emerged from the Seine, crying while pointing at and kissing at the paw tattoo on her wrist.

Rouwendaal has won three consecutive Olympic medals in the 10km marathon swim event. She won gold in the 2016 Rio Olympics, silver in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, and gold again in the 2024 Paris Olympics.

And with Rouwendaal’s recent 2024 Paris Olympic win, she becomes the first female marathon swimmer to win gold at multiple Olympics, Eurosport reveals.

The Olympics also reveals that Rouwendaal is the first athlete ever in marathon swimming to win three medals in the said discipline.

The man, named Nigel Avery, used to be in intensive care at the Kent and Canterbury Hospital in Canterbury, England.

According to BBC, Avery “developed Guillain-Barre syndrome after a bout of Covid and he was put into a coma to help his body recover” and his family was informed to prepare for the worst.

Back then, the nursing staff at the hospital used to allow visits from Martha, Avery’s dog.

Avery used to be wheeled outside with his life-saving equipment where the staff would put dog treats in between his fingers and allow Martha to jump on his bed.

Sarah Gotke, the physiotherapist who helped Avery outside, said, “The first time Martha jumped on to his bed there were tears streaming down his face because he was so excited about seeing her.”

While Avery says he doesn’t remember Martha’s first visit to him in the hospital, each of the next three visits from Martha gave him the motivation to get better.

And today, Avery and Martha are back in the same hospital – but this time, with a purpose.

BBC reveals that both Avery and Martha have completed therapy dog training. And the pair now visits the Kent and Canterbury Hospital a few hours each week to provide others the same hope and motivation Martha provided Avery back then.

Avery said, “My aim was to come back and give something back to the place that helped me so much.”

“Martha’s visits gave me a little bit of light in moments of extreme darkness and I hope we can offer the same to other people,” he adds.

Avery said when he met stroke patients while recovering in the neurorehabilitation unit, he got inspired to begin therapy dog training with his pooch.

Avery tells the East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust, “When I came home I saw some videos of stroke survivors in hospital who were visited by a therapy dog and it was clear the impact it had on them, so I thought it was something we could do.”

Gotke said, “Martha has seen a patient who is dog mad and when I came in, she was crying and now she is smiling.”

“She said that she has had a paw on her bed and a wet nose on her hand and it’s made a huge difference,” she continued.

Avery said that he and Martha will continue to visit the hospital as long as the good girl continues to enjoy it.

Gizmo, the now 11-year-old Chihuahua, is back in his loving owners arms after going missing in 2015.

ABC News reports that in 2015, the then two-year-old pooch slipped past a faulty gate in the backyard of his home in Las Vegas.

During the time Gizmo went missing, a lot of things has changed.

Back then, his owner, Judith Monarrez, was 28 years old living with her parents in Las Vegas. Today, Monarrez is 37, moved into her own home, earned a master’s degree in English, and began her teaching career in higher education.

And while a lot of things has changed, there was one thing that remained constant in all those years: Monarrez never stopped looking for her Gizmo.

And like a miracle, on July 17, Monarrez received an email that got her to her knees, crying. It was an email notification triggered after Gizmo’s microchip was scanned.

Monarrez found out that a woman found Gizmo and dropped him off at a vet, where they scanned his microchip.

The emotional owner said, “I’m so glad I registered his microchip.”

Monarrez reveals to ABC News that Gizmo’s first week at home has brought bittersweet feelings.

Because while Gizmo is finally back home, the dog’s 9-year journey was evident in his appearance and attitude.

Now, Gizmo has grown afraid of shadows, heights, and birds. He now walked with a limp, both his eyes were severely infected, and some of his teeth were missing.

Monarrez created a GoFundMe for the pooch’s vet bill so she and her family could nurse Gizmo back to health after all that he’s endured. Currently, the family has raised almost $9000 for Gizmo.

And while Monarrez and her parents can’t stop thinking about what Gizmo has endured all those years, they said that their focus now is addressing his health issues and showering him with all the love that they “were holding onto for all those years.”

“Even though he looked so different, when I looked in his eyes I knew immediately it was Gizmo,” Monarrez said. “And as soon as I said his name, he tilted his head and he didn’t stop staring at me.”

On June 30, Sunday, the Mooresville Youth Council (MYC) announced Reya, a 12-year-old Pit Bull, as the town’s official Dog Mayor.

Reya’s term officially began on June 30 and will last for one year. And according to the Mooresville Youth Council, the Dog Mayor will attend different kinds of events and activities around town.

The “other Mayor” Chris Carney even had the pleasure of meeting the newly tenured Dog Mayor during a “Town Hall Takover”.

Carney said that Reya is a wonderful addition to the town. “The voters got it right and she’ll do a great job! I’m excited to work with her over the next year,” Carney tells WCNC News.

“Reya is a 12-year-old Pit Bull, who has overcome various medical struggles during that time. She LOVES people & can often be found hanging out in Downtown,” MYC wrote in a Facebook post.

Reya’s constituents can be certain that she’ll do her job as Dog Mayor, because she is one tough lady!

Ashley Potts, Reya’s owner, reveals that Reya has undergone two knee surgeries, skin disease, and the removal of a dew claw due to a bone infection.

Potts also reveals that Reya’s election as the new Dog Mayor came at the right time for their family.

“We lost Reya’s fur brother, Rufio, in March due to bladder cancer,” Potts reveals. “We’re thankful for the Mooresville Youth Council for this yearly tradition. It came at the perfect time for our little family!”

The town of Mooresville has been holding the Dog Mayor contest since 2021. And Reya is the fourth Dog Mayor of Mooresville. The previous Dog Mayors of the town were Daisy, Buttercup and Elmer.

The now-viral video shows three stray dogs inside the store. One is seen already cuddled up in the sheets and pillows, while another joins it to comfortable lie on the sheets.

Meanwhile, a third dog can be seen roaming around and checking out the store.

A store worker sees the dogs on the bed and tries to take something away from one of them. However, the naughty dog didn’t want to let go of whatever he had and appeared to snap at the store worker.

After several failed attempts, the store worker walks away. And the naughty dog was seen chewing on a pair of slippers.

TikTok users couldn’t help but comment about the whole situation. One user wrote, “I love how Istanbul treats their homeless animals.”

While another wrote, “Any store that were kind enough to allow the dogs on their promo furniture like this would have me coming back to buy just to keep supporting THAT store.”

Users also took note the bed’s “top tier” comfort with one saying, “Animals know extraordinary comfort and they got incredible taste, this shows that the bed is top tier, absolutely love it!”

Furthermore, users also noticed the dogs’ ear tags. Someone then explained the story behind these tags saying, “The stray dogs in Turkey are tagged so authorities know they have been neutered, vaccinated, treated for parasites & fleas that’s why they are okay with them.”

The non-profit organization, Louisiana SPCA, shared the story of the puppy and the hero dog on Friday, June 28 on TikTok.

They shared that they found a puppy heavily coated in fleas, which they named Dragon Fruit, abandoned in a bush at an apartment complex.

Other than being covered in fleas, Dragon Fruit was also anemic. And that’s when Scout, a two-year-old Pit Bull, came to Dragon Fruit’s rescue.

“Meet our hero, Scout,” the animal shelter wrote on the video’s caption with a montage of Dragon Fruit receiving Scout’s blood and the animal shelter staff hugging Scout for being the goodest boy.

“He donated several bags of blood, and now the puppy safely rests in foster care until ready for adoption,” Louisiana SPCA wrote.

In the video that the Louisiana SPCA shared on TikTok, Scout’s kennel has a sign that read, “Certified Super Dog!! I donated blood!”

Scout and Dragon Fruit’s story has since gone viral and garnered almost 1 million likes on the social media platform.

Now, Scout, like the hero that he is, is now looking for his own hero to come and give him a forever home.

According to Scout’s adoption page, he has “a heart full of love and a tail that won’t stop wagging”.

He is described to be the friendliest, most loving dog and has a knack for making you feel like you’re his best friend.

“So, why should you adopt me? Well, because everyone needs a Scout in their life. I’m ready to be your faithful friend, your ray of sunshine, and your forever companion,“ Scout’s adoption page read.
