Niall Harbison, the CEO of Happy Doggo, shares the story of Britney Spears – a dog he rescued in Thailand two years ago.

“She had been used for fighting or possibly as a bait dog. She was dumped in the jungle with a padlock around her neck and with her 5 puppies,” Harbison wrote.

Harbison said that Britney was incredibly vicious. And prior to him rescuing the pooch, she has already bitten two volunteers badly.

He explained, “The only way I could get them food at first was with a big stick. Mum kept lunging at me. The puppies were in a horrific state with ticks.”

But Harbison understood that Britney’s aggressiveness was just the pooch’s way to protect her children. “She was just being protective of them,” he wrote.

Harbison revealed that it took him a total of 2 weeks to carry out the rescue of Britney and her puppies.

“Taking her to the vets and taking the padlock off was the best feeling ever,” he wrote.

Harbison also said that they got all Britney’s puppies treated for ticks and that she “completely changed” after.

Luckily, after all of Britney’s puppies became healthy again, Harbison was able to get them adopted. “All 5 turned out great and are living great lives and have been sterilized,” he reveals.

As for Britney, she has learned to trust Harbison and has been living with him since. However, Harbison said that she was a hard case because she couldn’t trust anyone and would attack both humans and other dogs that she didn’t trust.

“I nearly gave up so many times in frustration,” Harbison said. But knowing the life she lived, Harbison was extremely patient with Britney.

He said, “Britney came around slowly. She would try to play but she’d always let herself down. She has no off button from her previous life.”

Today, while Britney isn’t still as trusting, Harbison reveals that she has come so far. Britney now trusts bout six to seven people to walk her and interact with and has also made two dog friends!

Harbison said, “Not all rescues are perfect neat little happy endings”, giving us a small glimpse of how rescuing dogs is not all rainbows and unicorns.

“It’s been so hard but I’m very proud of Britney,” Harbison wrote. “She has seen horrible things in her life. I look at her now and see a dog that is as happy and content as possible.”

Social media users were touched to learn Britney and the second chance she got in life. One X user wrote, “Britney is doing great considering what she went through. Unfortunately, like people, some wounds never heal and we always carry them with us.”

“I’m impressed how far Britney has come! You offered hope. Your patience w/her is her success,” Another user wrote.

Another one said, “Brittany is a reminder that there are no bad dogs, only bad humans.”

Furthermore, Harbison reveals, “I’d love to get her a home but I still worry. Her life needs structure and safety for her.”

However, social media users were all in agreement when they said Britney is right where she belongs. One X user said, “I think she’s in her forever home, she’s clearly happy with you, her suite, and her toys.”

Loyal German Shepherd Saves Owner From Bear Attack https://www.dogingtonpost.com/loyal-german-shepherd-saves-owner-from-bear-attack/ https://www.dogingtonpost.com/loyal-german-shepherd-saves-owner-from-bear-attack/#respond Wed, 28 Aug 2024 21:30:00 +0000 https://www.dogingtonpost.com/?p=74244 A loyal German Shepherd saves her owner’s life when they suddenly got attacked by bears during a jog at the Trans Canada Trail in Yukon, Canada on Sunday, June 30.

In a statement released by the Yukon Conservation Officer Services, they revealed that the incident happened on June 30 at 10:30 PM.

Vanessa Chaput, along with her German Shepherd, Luna, were jogging on a paved trail when they both encountered a group of grizzly bears on the trail.

Chaput tells TODAY, “I spotted the male that would attack me first … and two smaller bears about 10 feet away from me.”

“There was also a fourth, smaller bear right behind me, which I didn’t see,” she reveals.

Chaput backed away from the group of grizzly bears. However, it was a different story for Luna. The German Shepherd, who was leashed, broke away from her owner and chased the two smaller bears away.

However, this posed a problem as Chaput was left with the third bear.

The larger male bear charged in Chaput’s direction, attacking her. “I picked a tree to get behind but the bear took me down … it took my head in its mouth and I ended up on the ground,” she says.

Chaput says she didn’t scream or feel any sort of pain. Instead, she said she felt like rag doll and there was nothing she could do.

“I remember being thrown around,” she recalls.

Chaput recalls the bear’s claw wrapping around her body, piercing her skin and scratching her thighs. Along with these, the bear also bit Chaput’s arm.

During the attack, the dog owner and mom thought, “I’m not ready to leave my daughter and my husband.”

At one point during the attack, Chaput reveals to Inside Edition that her hair clip broke and “exploded” inside the bear’s mouth.

“It crushed the clip and I think the spring part just kind of exploded in his mouth,” she explains.

And just at the right time, Luna returns to the scene and scares the bear off by barking non-stop.

“Her barking saved my life,” says Chaput.

Both authorities and Chaput believe that Luna’s continued barking scared the bear off, which helped save Chaput’s life that day.

Chaput also reveals that when Luna returned, she was unharmed from her encounter with the two smaller bears.

The dog owner tells TODAY, “I am very shocked at how lucky I am. I’m extremely thankful that God was watching over me that day.”

After the bear attack, Chaput was hospitalized for 10 days and received more than 30 stitches on her head, back, arm, and ear. She also had a broken arm, which is still in a cast.

Furthermore, the Yukon Conservation Officer Services reveals that they have euthanized a bear that was present at the exact location of the attack.

“Three additional bears matching the description were located in the area and two were euthanized. Efforts are still being made to recover the fourth bear. Officers are monitoring the area and using a variety of tools, including helicopters and drones, to continue their search of the remaining animal,” they explained.

The Yukon Conservation Officer Services also said they recognize public concern about euthanizing bears after a defensive attack.

They wrote, “In circumstances like this, critical decisions are made in the interest of public safety and the safety of personnel, in conjunction with predator attack response protocols, using all information available.”

“Officers take this responsibility and the outcomes of their decisions seriously.”

Hero Dog Who Saved Family From House Fire Found Dead https://www.dogingtonpost.com/hero-dog-who-saved-family-from-house-fire-found-dead/ https://www.dogingtonpost.com/hero-dog-who-saved-family-from-house-fire-found-dead/#respond Tue, 27 Aug 2024 12:00:00 +0000 https://www.dogingtonpost.com/?p=74366 A dog is found dead days after saving its family from a house fire in Morrison, Colorado on Wednesday, August 16.

The dog, named Cuddles, alerted her whole family, who were all sleeping, to an early morning fire. The hero dog woke the family up and alerted them to the fire, KDVR reports.

The family was able to get out safely, but Cuddles went missing. Crews searched the destroyed home multiple times, but did not find the dog.

West Metro Fire Rescue even posted photos of the Chihuahua in hopes of someone recognizing and finding her.

“These pictures of Cuddles are from the family. They say she is chipped, and if found, local animal shelters should be able to verify her identity,” the agency wrote.

Neighbors even put out a dog bed and food nearby thinking that Cuddles might have run away during the house fire.

However, three days after the accident, a FOX31 reporter revealed that family and friends say that Cuddles was found deceased inside the house.

9News reports that she was found underneath a bed. And that she likely died of smoke inhalation.

The family credited the deceased family dog as the hero who saved their life. And in an interview with 9News, Cuddles’ 13-year-old owner, Jaxson Coley, said he’s still in shock.

“She was very playful and loving she just wanted to cuddle everybody,” Coley said.

Coley’s grandparents, Suzanne Elkins and her husband, Victor, recounted the incident to 9News. Elkins said, “Cuddles hopped on Victor’s chest and barked in his face to wake him up to let us know that there was a danger.”

Elkins said that what happened is hard for everyone in the family. “Victor went back in and searched for her with all the smoke and flames and that’s how he burned his foot by running out and we did not know what happened to Cuddles then,” she explained.

“Really without her doing that who knows what would have happened to us,” Elkins added. “Love on your dogs. They’re not given enough credit I think for how powerful they can be.”

Currently, family and friends have created a GoFundMe for the family to help them get through this tragedy.

Furthermore, the West Metro Fire reveals that the cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Dutch Swimmer Dedicates Olympic Gold To Pet Dog Who Passed Away https://www.dogingtonpost.com/dutch-swimmer-dedicates-olympic-gold-to-pet-dog-who-passed-away/ https://www.dogingtonpost.com/dutch-swimmer-dedicates-olympic-gold-to-pet-dog-who-passed-away/#respond Thu, 15 Aug 2024 21:30:00 +0000 https://www.dogingtonpost.com/?p=74126 Sharon van Rouwendaal from Netherlands won the 10km marathon swim at the 2024 Paris Olympics on Thursday, August 8. She dedicates the win to her beloved pet dog, Rio, who passed away in May of this year.

Rouwendaal’s Pomeranian dog, Rio, was named after the 2016 Rio Olympics, where the Dutch swimmer first won her Olympic Gold at the 10km marathon swim.

We Rate Dogs revealed that Rio passed away due to complications from a lung surgery.

On May 7, Rouwendaal wrote a heartfelt message for Rio on Instagram, saying, “Today I need to say goodbye to my little man who has given me the best feeling in the world, better than any medal I ever won, better than any swimming moment I have ever experienced.

The Olympic champion said that her pet dog is the most important thing in her life. She even revealed that she bought a house for her and Rio to live in right after the 2024 Paris Olympics.

So, when the pooch passed away, Rouwendaal tells EuroSport that her “world stopped” and she “didn’t want to swim”.

But Rouwendaal’s father told her to continue swimming and to “do it for him [Rio]”. She added, “And I wanted to swim one more Olympics for him.”

Talking to We Rate Dogs, Rouwendaal said she got a paw tattoo in honor of Rio. “So I had a tattoo three days after the cremation and I said, ‘Let’s try it and I will swim for him with my whole heart’ — and I did it — I won for him.’”

After winning gold at 2024 Paris Olympics, Rouwendaal emerged from the Seine, crying while pointing at and kissing at the paw tattoo on her wrist.

Rouwendaal has won three consecutive Olympic medals in the 10km marathon swim event. She won gold in the 2016 Rio Olympics, silver in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, and gold again in the 2024 Paris Olympics.

And with Rouwendaal’s recent 2024 Paris Olympic win, she becomes the first female marathon swimmer to win gold at multiple Olympics, Eurosport reveals.

The Olympics also reveals that Rouwendaal is the first athlete ever in marathon swimming to win three medals in the said discipline.

Loyal Dog Helps Authorities Rescue Missing Woman With Dementia https://www.dogingtonpost.com/loyal-dog-helps-authorities-rescue-missing-woman-with-dementia/ https://www.dogingtonpost.com/loyal-dog-helps-authorities-rescue-missing-woman-with-dementia/#respond Thu, 15 Aug 2024 12:00:00 +0000 https://www.dogingtonpost.com/?p=73928 Dogs are, no doubt, man’s best friend – and this story of an 80-year-old woman with dementia who was saved by her devoted chocolate Labrador further proves it.

The 5-year-old chocolate Labrador, named Elsie, stayed with her owner for three days and two nights until she could alert rescue crews of their whereabouts.

According to the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources’ post on July 11, the woman went out to walk the family dog on the mountainside and didn’t return for over a day.

USA Today reports that the woman’s family were busy making dinner when they realized that the woman had gone missing. They immediately contacted Emery County Sheriff’s Office for help.

Ralph Mitchell, a local neighbor who has known the missing woman’s family for over 50 years and helped search for her, told USA Today that the extensive search for the woman involved the sheriff’s office, local authorities, and also members of the community.

Helicopters and drones were deployed, personnel were dispatched, and members of the community went door to door looking for the woman.

James Thomas, a K9 officer with the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources, along with his partner K9 Kip, joined the search mission on the second day.

“K-9 Kip is trained and certified to track humans. But, due to the extreme heat, the amount of time that had passed and the many search-and-rescue personnel in the area, the likelihood of Kip successfully tracking the woman was low,” Utah Division of Wildlife Resources wrote in their statement.

During officer Thomas and Kip’s search, the department revealed that the two briefly heard a dog barking at around 3:30 AM.

The department wrote, “They moved their search toward the barking, thinking it might be the missing woman’s dog, but they didn’t find her.”

The next day, Mitchell told officer Thomas that he has also heard barking in an area without any homes.

“After gaining access to local security cameras, they saw footage of the woman walking past with her dog, heading to the east,” the department revealed.

The search continued and as the group searched higher along the mountainside, they heard a dog barking again.

The woman was found in generally good condition, although she was reportedly dehydrated, with a few scratches and bruises, and missing shoes.

When further help arrived, the woman was transported to the local hospital for medical evaluation.

The department said, “At the end of the day, her dog saved her life by barking to alert those searching in the area. We’re so glad she was found safe.”

Man Who Spent Over 100 Days Paralyzed Returns To The Same Hospital With His Dog To ‘Offer Others Hope’ https://www.dogingtonpost.com/man-who-spent-over-100-days-paralyzed-returns-to-the-same-hospital-with-his-dog-to-offer-others-hope/ https://www.dogingtonpost.com/man-who-spent-over-100-days-paralyzed-returns-to-the-same-hospital-with-his-dog-to-offer-others-hope/#respond Mon, 12 Aug 2024 12:00:00 +0000 https://www.dogingtonpost.com/?p=73726 A man who previously spent over 100 days paralyzed in the hospital returns to the same wards – but this time with his pet dog to offer others hope.

The man, named Nigel Avery, used to be in intensive care at the Kent and Canterbury Hospital in Canterbury, England.

According to BBC, Avery “developed Guillain-Barre syndrome after a bout of Covid and he was put into a coma to help his body recover” and his family was informed to prepare for the worst.

Back then, the nursing staff at the hospital used to allow visits from Martha, Avery’s dog.

Avery used to be wheeled outside with his life-saving equipment where the staff would put dog treats in between his fingers and allow Martha to jump on his bed.

Sarah Gotke, the physiotherapist who helped Avery outside, said, “The first time Martha jumped on to his bed there were tears streaming down his face because he was so excited about seeing her.”

While Avery says he doesn’t remember Martha’s first visit to him in the hospital, each of the next three visits from Martha gave him the motivation to get better.

And today, Avery and Martha are back in the same hospital – but this time, with a purpose.

BBC reveals that both Avery and Martha have completed therapy dog training. And the pair now visits the Kent and Canterbury Hospital a few hours each week to provide others the same hope and motivation Martha provided Avery back then.

Avery said, “My aim was to come back and give something back to the place that helped me so much.”

“Martha’s visits gave me a little bit of light in moments of extreme darkness and I hope we can offer the same to other people,” he adds.

Avery said when he met stroke patients while recovering in the neurorehabilitation unit, he got inspired to begin therapy dog training with his pooch.

Avery tells the East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust, “When I came home I saw some videos of stroke survivors in hospital who were visited by a therapy dog and it was clear the impact it had on them, so I thought it was something we could do.”

Gotke said, “Martha has seen a patient who is dog mad and when I came in, she was crying and now she is smiling.”

“She said that she has had a paw on her bed and a wet nose on her hand and it’s made a huge difference,” she continued.

Avery said that he and Martha will continue to visit the hospital as long as the good girl continues to enjoy it.

‘Relaxed’ Dog In The UK Sleeps Through His 40th (And Final) Blood Donation https://www.dogingtonpost.com/relaxed-dog-in-the-uk-sleeps-through-his-40th-and-final-blood-donation/ https://www.dogingtonpost.com/relaxed-dog-in-the-uk-sleeps-through-his-40th-and-final-blood-donation/#respond Wed, 24 Jul 2024 12:00:00 +0000 https://www.dogingtonpost.com/?p=73296 Sharwood the dog makes his 40th and final blood donation like a champ. And if that isn’t amazing enough, you should know that he did it while sleeping through the entire session!

The pooch made his final blood donation at Northampton Vets4Pets on Saturday 13 July.

And on July 15, the Pet Blood Bank UK celebrated Sharwood becoming the first ever dog in the UK to reach 40 blood donations – a milestone for both Pet Blood Bank UK and the pooch.

“Sharwood’s 40th milestone also saw him retire as a donor as he will soon turn 8, the maximum age limit for dog blood donors,” Pet Blood Bank UK wrote.

Sharwood is a Gordon Setter who has been loyally donating blood since 2017, with the help and support of his owner, Sue Mitchell.

With his final blood donation, the charity revealed that Sharwood has donated a total of 22.5kg of blood. And thanks to his donation, he has helped saved the lives of a total of 380 dogs.

And one of the dogs that Sharwood help save is Sizzle the Dachshund who suffers from haemophilia.

Sizzle’s owner, Emma Gray, congratulated Sharwood and Mitchell on the achievement and said, “It truly humbles me that owners and their wonderful dogs give up their time to attend donation sessions. Without Sharwood and his lovely owner Sue, our dog Sizzle would simply not be here today.

“We are one very proud charity right now,” Pet Blood Bank UK wrote.

Of course, Mitchell is also one very proud dog owner. She tells Pet Blood Bank UK, “As the owner of Sharwood, I am immensely proud of him reaching this incredible achievement. His first donation was in 2017 and he has successfully donated on every visit since then!”

Mitchell reveals that Sharwood’s son, Brinjal, who has already donated 12 units of blood, will continue his legacy.

Sharwood is the third of my dogs who has regularly donated to this wonderful charity. I am so proud of them for all the lives they have helped to save,” Mitchell added.

According to Pet Blood Bank UK, Mitchell’s dogs have donated a combined total of over 97 units of blood since the family’s first donor, Garner, joined the pack in 2015.

Canine blood donors and their owners are the hidden helpers of the veterinary world,” Pet Blood Bank’s Marketing Manager Nicole Osborne said. “Their donations help to ensure that lifesaving blood is always available for any vet that needs it, and Sharwood has gone above and beyond in his contributions to this cause.

Now, after helping save the lives of hundreds of dogs, Sharwood is off to enjoy his well deserved retirement.

‘A Living Miracle’: Cavers Rescue A Dog They Found 40 to 50 Feet Down Virginia Cave https://www.dogingtonpost.com/cavers-rescue-a-dog-they-found-40-to-50-feet-down-virginia-cave/ https://www.dogingtonpost.com/cavers-rescue-a-dog-they-found-40-to-50-feet-down-virginia-cave/#respond Mon, 22 Jul 2024 12:00:00 +0000 https://www.dogingtonpost.com/?p=73172 “A living miracle” – that’s what they’re calling a dog that was discovered and rescued from a Virginia cave by experienced cavers on Sunday, July 07.

The professional cavers, Dave Jackson and Jesse Rochette, from Colorado-based educational cave simulator company CaveSim were exploring Giant Caverns in Giles County, Virginia with a local couple.

Jackson tells WDBJ-TV, “We rappelled in, and the first member of our group found a dog that had fallen in 40 or 50 feet into the cave.”

The group’s expertise was certainly put to the test as the cave exploration turned into a rescue mission.

Jackson said, “All of us have cave rescue experience. So we say, ‘we’re gonna get this dog out of this cave.'”

Jackson also said that they had to improvise during the rescue because this was different from rescuing a person, “When you rescue a person, you have the appropriate gear.”

Luckily, Rochette, self-described “dog guy”, knows just how to make this rescue mission a success – with a piece of salami.

Rochette repelled down the cave with his “secret weapon” (aka the salami) to rescue the dog. “She instantly came over and sucked up the salami and she loved that,” he tells the Associated Press.

During the rescue, the group wrapped the dog in space blankets, foam pads, and a hood from an old jacket they found in the cave because it was shivering. They then used human rescue equipment to get the dog out of the cave safely.

“I picked her up, she just kind of like laid into me,” said Rochette. “I think that was probably about the time she realized, ‘okay, they’re doing something get me out of here.’”

Rochette also reveals that the moment the dog touch the ground, it started panting. “It was a very clear excitement that she knew she was out of that situation,” he explains.

The cavers rushed the dog to the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine for treatment and was later taken to the Giles County Animal Shelter to recuperate.

The group initially named her “Cave Dog” but then settled with SPAR-C, an acronym for “Small Party Assisted Rescue Canine”.

On July 08, the animal shelter posted about SPAR-C on their Facebook page, calling her “a living miracle”.

They wrote, “Some call it fate, some call it luck, but this was nothing short of a miracle.”

The animal shelter also revealed that after numerous tests and x-rays, SPAR-C miraculously had no broken bones.

She did have other problems such Lyme Disease, some inflammation in her spine, and cannot use her back legs too well without assistance.

But Giles County Animal Shelter reveals these were problems that a “good dose of pain medication, antibiotics, rest and good nutrition” can fix.

Furthermore, they revealed that Rochette visited SPAR-C to check on her.

“Thank you to the CaveSim team for going above and beyond to bring this special girl to us – we’ve got it from here. And safe travels to Jesse, who will be heading back to Colorado with quite the story to tell,” Giles County Animal Shelter wrote.

A day after, the animal shelter revealed that SPAR-C is up and moving on her own. “She takes her medicine like a champ and eats like there’s no tomorrow,” they wrote.

On July 16, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) revealed that they sent both Jackson and Rochette a “Compassionate Action Award” for rescuing SPAR-C.

Meanwhile, Giles County Animal Shelter said that SPAR-C’s owner hasn’t been found yet. But if her healing continues to progress quickly, she will be ready to be adopted to her new forever home.

The non-profit organization, Louisiana SPCA, shared the story of the puppy and the hero dog on Friday, June 28 on TikTok.

They shared that they found a puppy heavily coated in fleas, which they named Dragon Fruit, abandoned in a bush at an apartment complex.

Other than being covered in fleas, Dragon Fruit was also anemic. And that’s when Scout, a two-year-old Pit Bull, came to Dragon Fruit’s rescue.

“Meet our hero, Scout,” the animal shelter wrote on the video’s caption with a montage of Dragon Fruit receiving Scout’s blood and the animal shelter staff hugging Scout for being the goodest boy.

He is described to be the friendliest, most loving dog and has a knack for making you feel like you’re his best friend.

“So, why should you adopt me? Well, because everyone needs a Scout in their life. I’m ready to be your faithful friend, your ray of sunshine, and your forever companion, Scout’s adoption page read.

If you are interested in adopting this hero dog, you can check out his adoption page here, or meet him by coming to the New Orleans Campus, at 1700 Mardi Gras Blvd.

DJ Kygo Invites Namesake Dog with Terminal Cancer To A Music Festival VIP Experience https://www.dogingtonpost.com/dj-kygo-invites-namesake-dog-with-terminal-cancer-to-a-music-festival-vip-experience/ https://www.dogingtonpost.com/dj-kygo-invites-namesake-dog-with-terminal-cancer-to-a-music-festival-vip-experience/#respond Mon, 08 Jul 2024 12:00:00 +0000 https://www.dogingtonpost.com/?p=72766 DJ Kygo meets his namesake dog with terminal cancer at the backstage of the Palm Tree Music Festival in Southampton, New York on Saturday, June 22.

Kygo the dog, named after the DJ, is a seven-year-old mutt. He garnered a lot of attention earlier in June after The Dogist, a photographer named Elias Weiss Friedman who takes photos of dogs out for a walk in New York City, shared his story online.

Friedman explained in his video with Kygo (the dog, not the DJ!), that someone reached out to him about a friend whose dog doesn’t have a lot of time left.

“It’s been one of her dreams to be featured on The Dogist,” Friedman said.

Kygo’s owner, Ashley McClain, said that Kygo “doesn’t have much longer” because he has bone cancer or Osteosarcoma.

Kygo is a seven-year-old mutt – he’s a Husky, Malamute, Poodle, and Collie. And his mom was found in the woods in Tacoma, Washington.

“He has osteosarcoma – we’ve been doing radiation treatment around his eye. It spread to his lungs, and now he has pneumonia, too,” McClain revealed.

And since Kygo doesn’t have much time left, McClain said she’s doing everything she can to make him as happy as possible.

McClain got emotional saying, “I really love that you’ve met him, because I know that a lot of people are gonna see him now, and that just means a lot to me.”

“He really changed my life in so many ways,” the emotional owner added.

After ticking off ‘running into The Dogist’ off Kygo’s bucket list, McClain said, “The only other thing I have left is for him to meet Kygo the DJ.”

The video went viral and a day later, DJ Kygo left a comment on the Instagram post saying, “See you at Palm Tree Fest Hamptons @empirestateofkygo. Can’t wait to meet you.”

And on June 22, DJ Kygo helped ticked off another item off his namesake dog’s bucket list after meeting the pooch backstage, at the Palm Tree Music Festival.

On another post on The Dogist, Friedman shared, “He (DJ Kygo) invited us all out to his concert in Southampton to meet up before the show.”

Upon meeting his namesake, DJ Kygo revealed, “I’ve never met a dog called Kygo before.” He also revealed that around 200 people sent Kygo the dog’s video to him, “It was insane.”

During the “Kygoception” meetup, McClain asked DJ Kygo if he would like to be part of Kygo’s Krew, which he replied with, “I would love to be!” and then wearing a shirt and a hat decorated with Kygo’s many faces on it.

Friedman tells DJ Kygo, “You made a very special dream come true.”

“The power of The Dogist community was strong with this one – everyone came together for a mom and her dog with cancer to help make their last chapter together extra special,” Friedman said.

The Dogist then reveals that the Brady Hunter Foundation donated $10,000 to McClain and Kygo the dog to help alleviate their medical cost, and another $10,000 to the National Canine Cancer Foundation in honor of McClain and Kygo.

“Until you like, have your dog, you don’t get it. When you’re a dog’s person, there will be no feeling in the world that will ever compare,” McClain said.

‘Morbidly Obese Dog’ Undergoes Incredible Transformation A Year After Being Found On The Streets https://www.dogingtonpost.com/morbidly-obese-dog-undergoes-incredible-transformation-a-year-after-being-found-on-the-streets/ https://www.dogingtonpost.com/morbidly-obese-dog-undergoes-incredible-transformation-a-year-after-being-found-on-the-streets/#respond Fri, 28 Jun 2024 12:00:00 +0000 https://www.dogingtonpost.com/?p=72538 The CEO of an animal charity shares the incredible transformation of Cindy Crawford – the morbidly obese dog he found in the streets of Thailand on September 2023.

Animal lovers are praising Niall Harbison, the CEO of Happy Doggo, after he shares the story of Cindy Crawford and how he helped her get a second chance at life.

“On the 22nd of September last year I found Cindy Crawford on the streets. She was morbidly obese and about to die,” Harbison wrote in a tweet.

Harbison shared that when he found Cindy, she weighed 46kg. “Her transformation today is seriously hard to believe,” he said.

In a series of tweets, Harbison shared Cindy’s full story from when he found her up until her current situation.

Harbison found Cindy laying in the streets in Thailand and said, “Cindy Crawford had given up on life and had lost all the dignity.”

After finding Cindy in the streets, Harbison immediately went to work to save her. “We got her in and cleaned up and started trying to fix her skin and her general health,” he explains.

In a video Harbison shared on September 25, 2023, he reveals that the vet were worried that her heart would stop with how obese she was.

“Her skin is in agony from parasites, internal issues, and neglect,” the animal charity CEO explains. “The blood vessels are inflamed all over her body. We have to move very slowly with her.”

Harbison also reveals that due to her weight, Cindy couldn’t even walk for more than 50 yards. But he didn’t give up and he started to put Cindy on a diet.

But like any other successful journey, Cindy’s came with some obstacles. Harbison reveals, “where we really started to make progress was when Cindy was diagnosed with a thyroid issue.”

But that didn’t stop Cindy. With her medicines and regular training, she started losing about 400g a week, and even met her new future mom, Lana!

And five months into her journey, Cindy started running for the first time ever since getting rescued.

Harbison said, “It was at this stage we gave Cindy her forever home. Lana took her in to live with her full time.”

And while Cindy has still a few pounds to lose, it’s something walking, going on beach trips, and dieting could definitely help fix!

As a matter of fact, Cindy is now down to 28.5kg – meaning she has lost almost half of her original weight back in September.

Cindy’s weight loss isn’t the only transformation she’s had for the past year. Because now, she is living the life she deserves.

Harbison shares, “Instead of living outside a 7-11, she had her own family and a villa. Her skin was perfect and she had her joy for life back.”

Harbison ends the update with, “She might just be a street dog in Thailand but I think we can all learn a lot from Cindy. We might be down at times in life. But we’re never out” along with a photo of Cindy looking healthy and happy.

Founded in 2023, Happy Doggo is a registered UK charity that aims to reduce the sufferings of dogs worldwide, particularly in Thailand and South East Asia.

Oregon Man Rescued From Car Crash After His Hero Dog Runs 4 Miles To Get Help https://www.dogingtonpost.com/oregon-man-rescued-from-car-crash-after-his-hero-dog-runs-4-miles-to-get-help/ https://www.dogingtonpost.com/oregon-man-rescued-from-car-crash-after-his-hero-dog-runs-4-miles-to-get-help/#respond Thu, 13 Jun 2024 12:00:00 +0000 https://www.dogingtonpost.com/?p=72106 A dog is being hailed as a hero after it travels four miles to alert and get help from his owner’s family about the car crash they were in.

On Tuesday, June 04, the Baker County Sheriff’s Office released a statement about rescuing a man that got stranded overnight after a car crash.

In the statement, the Sheriff’s Office revealed that they received a report about someone named Brandon Garrett going missing on June 03.

The person who reported, Garrett’s brother, said that he did not make it to their camping site on June 02. “Family members located his vehicle this morning but were unable to reach it due to the terrain,” the Sheriff’s Office wrote.

When the Sherrif’s Office responded to the scene, they found Garrett “approximately one hundred yards from the vehicle above the creek.”

The Baker County Search and Rescue Ropes Team set up their rescue equipment to reach Garrett.

The Sherrif’s Office reveals, “He was connected to a highline rope system and pulled across the ravine, where he was transferred to a group of SAR members and medical personnel.”

Fortunately, Garrett was safely rescued from the scene and was airlifted to a regional hospital.

During the Sheriff’s Office investigation, they found that “Garrett was traveling north on U.S. Forest Service Road 39 on June 2nd with his four dogs”. And the Garrett lost control of the truck, causing it to plummet off to a nearby stream.

They then found out that one of Garrett’s dog travelled nearly four miles to their family’s camping site, which alerted the family and prompted them to start searching for Garrett.

Garrett’s family members then continued to look for him until they located his vehicle and reported it to the Baker County Sheriff’s Office.

Online users couldn’t help but commend Garrett’s dog for running to their family to ask for help. One user wrote, “That doggo helped save his life!!”

While another wrote, “Holy smokes he’s so lucky to be alive. And what an amazing dog to find his way to the family.”

“What a great & caring dog. He knew what he needed to do and he did it,” another one added.

Thankfully, the three remaining dogs were located alive at the crash scene.
