The “Happy Tail” was shared by the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region (HSPPR) on August 27 on their Facebook page.

“We are grateful to serve such a compassionate and pet-loving community, and this Happy Tail is about how our community helped reunite a dog that had been missing for over two years,” the animal shelter wrote.

The animal shelter and WFIE reveals that Bear got lost two years ago on April 2022 while he was with a pet sitter.

Brandy Ross, Bear’s owner, was devasted when the pooch was lost. She tells WFIE, “Like, that was the hardest part. Was going home after I had left him with the sitter and then coming home to not having my dog.”

She and her family reported him missing and posted in Facebook groups. And they spent weeks searching and posting him. But to no avail, Bear never turned up.

The “saddest part”, as HSPPR put it, is that Ross’ family had to leave Colorado Springs without the pooch and move to New York due to work in the military.

But for HSPPR, things “got exciting” when they started working with a group of volunteer pet lovers dedicated to helping lost dogs reunite with their families.

HSPPR reveals, “In July, Animal Law Enforcement (ALE) was alerted to a possible Bear sighting. Where at? The same location he went missing two years prior. So, an ALE officer reached out to these volunteers for help.”

The animal shelter reveals that the volunteers jumped on board to save Bear “without hesitation”.

“Feeding stations were set up, game trail cameras were placed, and they began monitoring Bear. They even found the original lost pet post from the owners (yes, the one from 2022) and let them know what was happening,” HSPPR explains.

Danielle Neiner, the volunteer who found Bear, further explains to WFIE how they caught Bear, “We then set up a time to put up what’s called a messy trap. So it’s a giant trap where they walk in, they hit a light, basically towards the back that triggers the door to close.”

And finally, on August 18, the volunteers successfully captured Bear. The animal shelter reveals that through a microchip check, they were able to confirm that the stray pooch they caught was indeed Bear.

“His owners were crying tears of happiness,” HSPPR wrote.

Neiner reveals that when they found the pooch, “He was pretty matted, very dirty, all that different stuff. He’s definitely underweight. but health-wise, he’s had no health problems.”

Ross couldn’t believe the news of her pooch being found. She said, “The whole night I’m like, ‘Oh my gosh, is this my dog?’ And then she read the numbers and she’s like, ‘It’s him.’ And I was like, ‘No way.’ And I was literally bawling my eyes out … Even now I’m in shock that this is him,”

“And to now be like, ‘He’s OK.’ It’s weird. It was, it was crazy. Like our emotions were everywhere,” Ross added.

Before making the cross-country trip, Bear got a much-needed groom and went to the vet for shots and a health certificate, all taken care by the volunteers who rescued him.

And then on September 01, Bear finally took the trip to reunite with his family, a trip that was paid by generous community members.

And before the long-awaited reunion, Ross reveals, “So we already bought all of his bed and his bowls, and my kids helped me buy him toys.”

Bear’s story is another reminder that hope is never lost. And that microchipping your pets will highly increase your chances of being reunited with them if they ever get lost.

For some garbage collectors in east Belfast, Friday is not only garbage collection day, but also Maddie day!

Maddie, the one-year-old Golden Retriever, is brightening up the lives of these garbage collectors every Friday morning by waiting for them to arrive and asking for pets.

“She loves seeing us, and waits for us every Friday morning to come around,” One of the garbage men, Mark Doran, tells BBC. “She scrapes the door until she can get out, she can hear the lorry coming up the street and stuff.”

Another garbage man, Nathan Wilson, who has been friends with Maddie for over a year since the pooch was a little pup, says “first time we seen her, [it was] just brilliant.”

Wilson also tells BBC, “I think she loves everyone. But I think she likes us a wee bit more.”

Maddie’s videos with her “blue bin friends” have gone viral on social media. On her Instagram page, Maddie has three videos of her greeting the garbage men with a combined total of almost 900,000 likes.

The videos all show Maddie at their garden either waiting for the garbage men to pet her and give her some love or her excitedly running around as she sees the garbage men approaching.

While Maddie makes other friends, like the postmen, or just the neighbors in general, the garbage men in the area seem to really have a special place in Maddie’s heart.

As a matter of fact, the pooch even got her own vest to match with them!

Katelin Fiddis, whose family own Maddie, tells BBC just how much the dog adores the garbage men. She said, “It’s not just her tail that wags, it’s her whole bum that goes – she just loves it.”

And while it’s true that Maddie makes these garbage men’s day brighter, Fiddis said it’s the same for Maddie.

“They’re very busy obviously doing their big rounds but the fact that they would dedicate 20-30 seconds to say ‘hello’, you can just tell that it makes Maddie’s day and she’s got a wee smiley face and a waggy tail.”

Now, Maddie has also started putting a smile on the faces of thousands of people all over the world thanks to her viral videos.

Fiddis said, “We’re getting comments from people saying ‘I’ve had a really, really hard week and I’ve just seen this video of Maddie and it’s completely changed my outlook and I feel so much better’.”

KTEN reports that the duo were seen wandering together near Whitemound Woad when a neighbor spotted them.

The Grayson County Sheriff’s Office revealed that they nicknamed the duo “Milo” and “Otis”, after the cat and dog duo who strayed away from their farm from the 1986 movie “The Adventures of Milo and Otis”.

Before they were reunited with their owner, the Sheriff’s Office revealed, “We’ve managed to corral them with a kind resident while we wait for Grayson County Animal Control to pick up Milo (the dog). Otis (the goat) will be heading to a local farm for safekeeping.”

Locals were quick to respond to the news of the duo getting separated. They pointed out that separating them will cause stress, especially to the Great Pyrenees.

One local wrote, “The dog and goat were over at my house 2 different days. One time with a pony. The dog is as sweet as can be, but doesn’t like to be separated from the goat.”

“That GP is doing his/her job 1000% – separating them will stress that poor dog and goat out,” another wrote.

However, thanks to the swift response of the local community, the duo were not separated and deputies were able to locate the owner of the duo, and therefore reunite them.

“Grayson County truly is a great place to live, where neighbors still look out for one another and lend a hand when it’s needed most. It’s moments like these that remind us how much people still care about people,” the Sheriff’s Office wrote.

In an interview with KTEN,  Cpl. Cory George reveals that the duo were wandering town together and going on adventures for three days before someone called the Sheriff’s Office to report them.

George revealed that responding to the report was an “odd call to go to”. He said, “I’ve been in law enforcement for about 14 years, and I have not seen that… that’s the first one.”

He also reveals, “We get a lot of loose livestock cows, but not a whole lot of dogs and goats stuck together. They were pretty inseparable like they were best friends.”

Clark G The Dog was among the Internet’s most famous dogs and an ultimate YouTube sensation. The Dutch Shepherd became famous in 2011 when a video of him, titled “Ultimate Dog Tease”, was uploaded by the channel Talking Animals.

The video has garnered over 200 million views and 1 million likes since it was uploaded on YouTube in 2011.

In the video, Clark’s owner teases him about all the meat inside the meat drawer that he and the cat ate, but never shared with Clark.

The channel voice dubbed Clark as he “talks” to his owner and expresses his frustration over not getting any maple bacon, steak, and chicken.

On June 05, Clark’s owner announced the viral dog’s passing on his Facebook page. His owner wrote, “It is with great sadness that I must tell you that Clark has gone over the Rainbow Bridge.”

“Our family is very heartbroken over his loss. Clark was such a large personality!!! Mom will miss him following her around the house and “yelling” at her whenever she comes home from anywhere. Dad will miss Clark always insisting on treats and snacks,” his owner shared.

Clark’s owner also took this opportunity to thank all of Clark’s supporters, calling them “the best fans in the world”.

They expressed their gratitude saying, “Clark got famous by accident but I know there was a reason behind it. We have saved many dogs together and I know we will continue to do so. You all have given us hope for humanity in the future. You are all pawmazing!”

They also shared the original video of Clark “talking” without the famous dubbed conversation.

While Clark crossed the rainbow bridge in June, it wasn’t until August when the Internet found out about the sad news.

On August 26, user @slater_paul uploaded Clark’s viral YouTube video on X (formerly Twitter) with the caption “RIP Clark: The Talking Dog Who Left Us Laughing”.

X Users were quick to mourn the loss of one of their favorite dogs on the Internet and started trending “RIP Clark”.

One X user wrote, “One of the best videos to ever grace the internet. RIP Clark. Thanks for making us laugh for so many years.”

“The Rainbow Bridge has lots of bacon on the other side,” another user wrote.

The Clearwater Threshers’ newest bat dog, 10-month-old yellow Labrador Lucy May, is the sister of the team’s previous bat dog, Layla.

And the pooch made sure her debut on Friday, August 23, was as memorable and messy as possible!

Videos of Lucy May’s debut have been going viral online. As a matter of fact, the video ESPN uploaded on TikTok has almost a million likes and 8.5 million views.

During her viral debut, Lucy May was sent to retrieve a bat. But instead, ran around the field and into the opposing team’s dugout.

After an unsuccessful attempt, Lucy May was sent back to the field to retrieve another bat. However, she went back to running around the field, but this time with a surprise!

It might be her inexperience or her first-day jitters! But Lucy May, instead of retrieving the bat, suddenly answered the call of Mother Nature on the field.

Fans were supportive of whatever duty Lucy May was performing in the field as the crowd started cheering for her.

After Lucy did her business, her owner, Andrew Davis got her back over to the Threshers’ dugout. Meanwhile, the team’s promotions and game entertaining manager, Dominic Repper, cleaned up after the pooch.

Andrew Davis, Lucy May’s owner, tells WTVT-TV, “When she squatted, I definitely went into panic mode.” He continues, “I think the word my fiancée and I used was ‘mortified.'”

“We kind of had a feeling that something special would happen with her and that it would be a fun event, but I don’t think we could have imagined that it would get taken to that level,” Repper said.

After the incident, the Clearwater Threshers defended Lucy May and ensured everyone that she is “1000% keeping her job”.

“Couldn’t be mad at this sweet face if we tried,” the team wrote on X (formerly Twitter). “Lucy May is only 10 months old! She jumped into training when Layla had to step down, and even though she doesn’t have it quite right, she is 1000% KEEPING her job.”

The team also said, “She’s got lots of time until our home opener in April, and we know she’ll get it just right soon”.

Niall Harbison, the CEO of Happy Doggo, shares the story of Britney Spears – a dog he rescued in Thailand two years ago.

“She had been used for fighting or possibly as a bait dog. She was dumped in the jungle with a padlock around her neck and with her 5 puppies,” Harbison wrote.

Harbison said that Britney was incredibly vicious. And prior to him rescuing the pooch, she has already bitten two volunteers badly.

He explained, “The only way I could get them food at first was with a big stick. Mum kept lunging at me. The puppies were in a horrific state with ticks.”

But Harbison understood that Britney’s aggressiveness was just the pooch’s way to protect her children. “She was just being protective of them,” he wrote.

Harbison revealed that it took him a total of 2 weeks to carry out the rescue of Britney and her puppies.

“Taking her to the vets and taking the padlock off was the best feeling ever,” he wrote.

Harbison also said that they got all Britney’s puppies treated for ticks and that she “completely changed” after.

Luckily, after all of Britney’s puppies became healthy again, Harbison was able to get them adopted. “All 5 turned out great and are living great lives and have been sterilized,” he reveals.

As for Britney, she has learned to trust Harbison and has been living with him since. However, Harbison said that she was a hard case because she couldn’t trust anyone and would attack both humans and other dogs that she didn’t trust.

“I nearly gave up so many times in frustration,” Harbison said. But knowing the life she lived, Harbison was extremely patient with Britney.

He said, “Britney came around slowly. She would try to play but she’d always let herself down. She has no off button from her previous life.”

Today, while Britney isn’t still as trusting, Harbison reveals that she has come so far. Britney now trusts bout six to seven people to walk her and interact with and has also made two dog friends!

Harbison said, “Not all rescues are perfect neat little happy endings”, giving us a small glimpse of how rescuing dogs is not all rainbows and unicorns.

“It’s been so hard but I’m very proud of Britney,” Harbison wrote. “She has seen horrible things in her life. I look at her now and see a dog that is as happy and content as possible.”

Social media users were touched to learn Britney and the second chance she got in life. One X user wrote, “Britney is doing great considering what she went through. Unfortunately, like people, some wounds never heal and we always carry them with us.”

“I’m impressed how far Britney has come! You offered hope. Your patience w/her is her success,” Another user wrote.

On a July 8 Instagram post, the animal shelter shares the heroic story of King that ended in a happily ever after.

The animal shelter reveals that the five-year-old dog came to them after escaping a life of neglect.

“When he arrived at HSP, he had a large, ulcerated mass on his face. The mass weighed a staggering 7 pounds, 10% of his body weight. It was impossible to tell how long it had been left untreated,” HSP reveals.

Despite the situation he was in, HSP said King’s spirit was “unbroken”. They explained that even though the pooch was in pain, “he had an inspiring upbeat attitude and only wanted to be loved.”

The animal shelter reveals that the pooch underwent a difficult yet successful surgery to remove the mass on his face. Thankfully, the tumor was benign.

During the following weeks, King continued his incredible recovery while also undergoing treatment for heartworm disease.

The animal shelter was doing its best to prepare King for his forever home.

“King has gone through a lot in lifetime and is still learning how to be a dog outside the world where he came from prior,” HSP wrote in a July 26 update. “Our staff is working endlessly to provide him love and care and set him up for a life in a forever home.”

And while it took a while, what’s for the lovable pooch finally found him – a loving forever home.

On an August 12 update, HSP shared the story of how King found his forever home.

HSP explained that during King’s heartworm treatment, he had to be on leash walks only. And HSP’s staff members would always take him out on long walks while keeping him entertained.

HSP reveals, “During one of these long walks, King was introduced to a construction worker who was working on our brand new Sjouwerman Adoption Center. It is here where this lovely gentlemen slowly fell in love with King.”

HSP said that the gentleman asked to foster King during a tropical storm. “He fell in love with him and fate stepped in and King was adopted by this amazing man,” HSP wrote.

While King has gotten his happily ever after, a lot of pets like him at the Humane Society of Pinellas are still waiting to get the care they deserve.

The family’s refusal to put down Loubo, Delon’s healthy 10-year-old Belgian Malinois, came after a massive outcry from animal rights activists, The Daily Mail UK reports.

The Guardian reveals that Delon told Paris Match magazine in 2018 that Loubo was his “end of life dog”.

He further expressed his love for the Belgian Malinois saying, “I’ve had 50 dogs in my life, but I have a special relationship with this one. He misses me when I’m not there.”

In the same interview, Delon told the magazine, “If I die before him, I’ll ask the vet to take us away together. He’ll put him to sleep in my arms. I’d rather do that than know that he’ll let himself die on my grave with so much suffering.”

The interview and Delon’s dying wish comes under the spotlight with his recent passing, once again drawing criticism from animal rights groups.

La SPA, a French animal rights organization, condemned his decision saying, “Before his death, he has expressed the wish to euthanize his dog, Luobo. However, the life of an animal should not be conditioned by that of a human.”

La SPA also volunteered to take in the dog and find him a forever family. However, after the outpouring criticisms, the French animal charity Brigitte Bardot Foundation reveals on Instagram, “Loubo, of course, will not be euthanized!”

They wrote, “”He has his own home and family,” the actor’s relatives who will take care of him confirmed to us.”

The actor passed away on Sunday, August 18, at the age of 88. And according to reports, Delon was buried at his Douchy home “in the strictest privacy” and no further details have been given by his family.

The backlash came from social media users and has even reached People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) after the recent revelation on the “Miss Me?” podcast.

“She ate all three of our passports and they had our visas in and I cannot tell you how much money it cost me to get everything replaced because it was in COVID,” Allen said.

Allen reveals it was an ‘absolute logistical nightmare’ because she couldn’t take her kids to see their dad in England for about four or five months.

“I just couldn’t look at her — I was like, ‘You’ve ruined my life.’” she said on the podcast.

The singer-songwriter and actress also said that the dog was ‘very badly behaved’ and that passports weren’t the only thing she ate.

“I really tried very hard with her but it just didn’t work out and the passports were the straw that broke the camel’s back, so to speak.”

Social media users were quick to criticize Allen for her decision. One user from X (formerly Twitter) wrote, “why would you keep your passport near your dog and then blame the dog for doing dog stuff”.

Another user wrote, “do people not realize when they adopt animals that they are adopting an animal”

Furthermore, after PETA heard of the story, they sent Allen a letter calling out the singer on August 23.

In the letter, they wrote, “While you could get new passports and rebook your flights, Mary may spend many months in the shelter waiting for a new family – if she’s lucky enough to find one at all.”

They also wrote how it’s natural for dogs to explore the world by putting things in their mouths.

The animal rights organization wrote, “Couldn’t you have put your important documents in a drawer?”

In addition to the letter, PETA UK also sent Allen a mechanical dog toy, writing “Dogs should never be treated as accessories to be discarded when they become inconvenient. They are loyal companions who deserve the same unwavering love and commitment they offer us.”

PETA UK ‘begs’ Allen to not get another dog. They said, “Instead, we’re sending you a mechanical toy puppy, which requires none of the care, patience, or commitment that a real one does. It really is the only animal you should bring into your home.”

After the backlash she received, Allen wrote a lengthy clarification on X. She explained that the puppy, named Mary, developed separation anxiety and would act out in all manner of ways.

Allen wrote, “we worked with the shelter that we rescued her from and they referred us to a behavioral specialist and a professional trainer, it was a volunteer from the shelter who would come and dog sit her when we were away“.

“And after many months and much deliberation everyone was in agreement that our home wasn’t the best fit for Mary,” she continued.

She also reveals that Mary was rehomed within 24 hours of being returned and that the person who adopted Mary was someone they know.

“We couldn’t meet Mary’s needs and her happiness and welfare were central to us making that decision, as difficult as it was.”

Allen also expresses her frustration saying that the week has been ‘very distressing’. She wrote, “I’ve had rescue dogs pretty consistently throughout my life since I was 4 years old, I’m pretty good at ascertaining a dogs needs, I have never been accused of mistreating an animal”.

She ended her clarification by mentioning PETA saying, “Also thank you to @peta for adding fuel to the fire. Very responsible of you.”

However, PETA fired back on Allen saying, “YOU laughed when speaking about abandoning Mary and ruined this poor dog’s life. She thought she had a loving forever home before you tossed her out, calling her “that f******* dog” who “ruined my life.””

PETA ended their statement with, “Shame on you. You don’t deserve even the toy dog we sent you.”

After the revelation that Mary was quickly rehomed, social media users had divided opinions about the whole situation.

Some were saying that it was responsible of Allen to prioritize the dog’s needs. One X user wrote, “She responsibly rehomed a dog when she realised she would not be able to meet her dog’s very specific needs. No-one should be shamed for doing that. The needs of the dog come first, and Lily recognised that.”

However, some were still not happy about Allen’s actions about the whole ordeal. “You don’t give up on your animals. As soon as you take them in they are family. You don’t look any better for this,” one user wrote.

In a statement released by the Yukon Conservation Officer Services, they revealed that the incident happened on June 30 at 10:30 PM.

Vanessa Chaput, along with her German Shepherd, Luna, were jogging on a paved trail when they both encountered a group of grizzly bears on the trail.

Chaput tells TODAY, “I spotted the male that would attack me first … and two smaller bears about 10 feet away from me.”

“There was also a fourth, smaller bear right behind me, which I didn’t see,” she reveals.

Chaput backed away from the group of grizzly bears. However, it was a different story for Luna. The German Shepherd, who was leashed, broke away from her owner and chased the two smaller bears away.

However, this posed a problem as Chaput was left with the third bear.

The larger male bear charged in Chaput’s direction, attacking her. “I picked a tree to get behind but the bear took me down … it took my head in its mouth and I ended up on the ground,” she says.

Chaput says she didn’t scream or feel any sort of pain. Instead, she said she felt like rag doll and there was nothing she could do.

“I remember being thrown around,” she recalls.

Chaput recalls the bear’s claw wrapping around her body, piercing her skin and scratching her thighs. Along with these, the bear also bit Chaput’s arm.

During the attack, the dog owner and mom thought, “I’m not ready to leave my daughter and my husband.”

At one point during the attack, Chaput reveals to Inside Edition that her hair clip broke and “exploded” inside the bear’s mouth.

“It crushed the clip and I think the spring part just kind of exploded in his mouth,” she explains.

And just at the right time, Luna returns to the scene and scares the bear off by barking non-stop.

“Her barking saved my life,” says Chaput. 

Both authorities and Chaput believe that Luna’s continued barking scared the bear off, which helped save Chaput’s life that day.

Chaput also reveals that when Luna returned, she was unharmed from her encounter with the two smaller bears.

The dog owner tells TODAY, “I am very shocked at how lucky I am. I’m extremely thankful that God was watching over me that day.”

After the bear attack, Chaput was hospitalized for 10 days and received more than 30 stitches on her head, back, arm, and ear. She also had a broken arm, which is still in a cast.

Furthermore, the Yukon Conservation Officer Services reveals that they have euthanized a bear that was present at the exact location of the attack.

“Three additional bears matching the description were located in the area and two were euthanized. Efforts are still being made to recover the fourth bear. Officers are monitoring the area and using a variety of tools, including helicopters and drones, to continue their search of the remaining animal,” they explained.

The Yukon Conservation Officer Services also said they recognize public concern about euthanizing bears after a defensive attack.
